MY STORY
I've spent much of my life playing with textiles as a hobby, mainly knitting, crochet and Dorset buttons. In 2011 I opened an artisan wool shop where I could sell gorgeous natural fibres, teach workshops in textiles, and specialise in Dorset buttons. I published my first book a couple of years later, and it was a real light bulb moment. I finally knew what I wanted to do when I grew up. I wanted to be a textile artist. I've since written several more books, taught hundreds of classes, both one to one and large groups, and generally immersed myself in textiles. I have a particular focus on hand stitching, and my most loved media is wool, but I love exploring all sorts of ideas and materials. I love learning, and pasing that learning on. Each person you teach, teaches you something in return. I take inspiration from the world around me. I love nature, especially trees and the sea. There is beauty and inspiration to be found all around us. We just have to learn how to see it.
