One to one crochet classes at Beaker Button

Last post I wrote about the Sunday workshop program. This post I wanted to tell you about the different crochet classes I teach. These are part of the one to one classes I run, so the tuition is bespoke to you. Most classes run for 2 hours per week over a four week run. There is homework! The week between classes allows you to do a little practice each day and build your muscle memory ready for the next stage. You can bring your own materials, or buy them from Beaker Button.

Beginners crochet will take you from being a complete novice to a competent crocheter and covers making stitches, pattern reading, colour changing, shaping, and finishing. There are several different options for what you can make, and still get the basic skills under your belt. Students have chosen a blanket, cushion, amigarumi creatures, cowl, and even a dinosaur!

Tunisian crochet is a great course, with a similar program as the beginners crochet. Tunisian crochet creates a very different fabric, and is worked in a different way to normal crochet. Tunisian crochet often produces a warm, thick, bouncy fabric, well suited to home wares, or cosy jackets. It’s very soothing to do.

Pattern reading and technical support sessions are available to book on a one off basis. I do a great finishing class, covering various ways to sew up, block your work, and make the process enjoyable. Always struggled with magic loop? Or cable crochet? Want to learn to read charts? Or have a go at Fair Isle crochet? All of these skills can be taught in a one off session.

Both these cuties are from kits, one West Yorkshire Spinners and one Toft.

All one to one sessions take place on Thursdays and Fridays. I teach from early morning to evening, providing slots to suit most people. It's easy to book. Simply get in touch and we can discuss your needs, and book you in.
