Minecraft tree!

This week’s inspiration image is a cherry tree taken on a National Garden Scheme visit last year. I loved the solid structures of the image and the contrast in colours.

I‘ve been in love with inchies for a few years now, and I’m running a weekend workshop on making them in July. I decided that using inchies to create the tree would serve as one of the samples for the July workshop. They would also create shape without being a big solid lump.

The weaving in between the squares was an afterthought, but brought the inchies into a more cohesive shape. Short Round says it looks like a Minecraft tree! I’d like to add more texture to the weaving, and some stitch to the hedges and grass in shadow if I get time at some point.

Next week’s image is below.

Keep an eye on the blog later in the week as I’ll share this month’s prize draw winner’s piece, inspired by the snowdrops from earlier this month. For a chance to win a textile bundle send your work to info@beakerbutton.co.uk or leave it in the comments of the post that inspired you.
